    to say a few things,

the 2100le has exactly the same specs as the gainward 2100 so it seems there is a bargain to be had for a tad over 9800pro, and for better performance aint too shabby

but best price i have seen is a 6800le unknown brand probs oem at www.order247.co.uk last time i looked it was the last nvidia (or nvidea as they put it) on the nvidia gfx card list!

    tell me what happens!

even if you cannot unlock the extra pipes, they can be oced quite a bit, as they are essential the same core, with less heat due to fewer pipelines enabled! i have seen 6800les going for ~£180 on ebay and some shops sell them upwards of £160!!!

Well, you'll never get a 6800 or 6800 LE up to GT/Ultra performance levels unless it comes equipped with 256MB GDDR3. As you say though, you're more likely to have at least some success modding a 6800LE than you are with a 6800, since a 6800LE has 2 pipe quads and two vertex shaders inactive, whereas a 6800 has only one of each. Since LEs are significantly cheaper than 6800s it's likely to be a good deal.

    Guys

you need to remember the bigger picture - an SI will not buy a card and put it in a system and softmod it - they will run it at stock.

There is 2 sides to each knife

david stone tell me what is different between these 2 web pages?

    http://www.gainward.com/html/product...100LEtvdvi.htm

    http://www.gainward.com/html/product.../2100tvdvi.htm

they both have the same underlying hardware, same memory chips etc. the only difference is the pipelines enable and the heatsink, and the difference in clock speeds but these could be easily achieved if you read a review!

one is just basically cut down possibly due to errors i.e. due to bad pipelines!

1 review can be found, and it seem sto resemble the one available at order247, but i cant be too sure!

    http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/article.php?id=325

also riva tuner (the new one ) cud unlock some of the extra pipelines etc!

i might contact order247 to ask for more details regarding their 6800le!

According to those T-break benches, the LE gets panned (as does the 6600) under any circumstances requiring high fill rates. Even the higher clocks of the 6600GT doesn't compensate for it's pipes being crippled.

Both the 6600/GT and 6800LE seem pretty much comparable performance wise and appear to represent good buying decisions for the low end / low mid range PCI-X and AGP markets respectively, but only if you're planning to run games at 1078x768 with minimal AA/AF. Anything above that and it appears that they both start to chug.

Still, you can't have the world for £130.

Aquamark has got to be one of the most irrelevant benchmarks ever invented.
