lol, I'm sure if it starts heading that way MS will find some "security flaw" that needs patching in Win7 that hurts Mantle performance by 50% on Win 7 (but not 8). AMD could counter that by porting to SteamOS, but given their Linux history I shan't hold my breath.

In future could you also show the affect of Mantle on minimum frame rate? Low minimum frame rates will occur with weak CPUs across the entire spectrum of low to high-end graphics cards, it would be good to know exactly which CPUs can keep which graphics card chugging along efficiently without bottle-necking them.

Re: Reviews - AMD Mantle: Battlefield 4 performance ruminations

My point was that when mantle was first announced they were claiming up to 40% performance increases in BF4.
Which to be fair to them is true, but only when a weak cpu was severely limiting performance of a high end graphics chip.
Even with the +40% it was still slower than dx11 with a decent cpu.

If you have high end kit mantle only seems to make 5-10% difference which isn't enough to make up the difference to nvidia's top chip which is why it was included in the chart.

I suspect more people would be complaining about the reference not being there, than it being there.

I recently upgraded my laptop and desktop computer with a high end laptop. I was tempted by the value offered by amd chips but in laptop form they were a sidestep from my overclocked Q6600 desktop.

So I spent the extra couple of hundred quid and went down the haswell route instead. As well in for a penny in for a pound or so they say.

    It's only a laptop by 3dm11 score of - 7989
    Firestrike score of - 5193

Is there any benchmarks for the AMD FX CPU's? i would love to see how it would run on them
