Re: Reviews - Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition G3258 (22nm Haswell)

I've decided to go for this cpu in my new build. I'm currently trying to figure out what motherboard should I go for. The most likely candidate is the MSI H97I AC. does anybody have experience on this model? trying looking for a review but no success.

Maybe worth a look. Other man. Are touting future boards.

This chip is all wrong; we are actually excited Intel release a budget processor they have not neutered.

    Meh.

    Excellent news if true:

    https://translate.google.com/transla...rdware.fr/news

Intel did block the previous attempt with microcode updates, although one forum member(pastymuncher) did find an existing H series motherboard did work(and another chap had no luck with it though).

I assume Asus have found another workaround which would be awesome, although they do mention the following too:

ASUS does not guarantee that Intel new Pentium processor and Core K Series ('Haswell' and 'Haswell Refresh') processors will be overclockable on ASUS H97, H87, B85 and H81 Series motherboards in the event that Intel issues software and firmware updates that result in function changes.
Maybe if motherboard companies keep doing this,it will force Intel to stop doing all these silly blocks!!

Not that one but I am running the 3258 on a MSI X97-G43 with no problem overclocking at 4.3Ghz. But make sure you get the latest MSI BIOS updates, preferably H6, as it may not recognise the 3258 for Overclocking in earlier bios settings

    So, the A8 7600 consumes 85W in 2D load and 79W in 3D load? Something's not right.

Re: Reviews - Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition G3258 (22nm Haswell)

My last build id now 6 years old, so in my new build I'm going with this processor in a z97 (probably gigabyte's sli) mobo. Then in a year or so I can upgrade to a better processor - like one that currently costs £150 instead of £50. It just spreads the costs and smooths the performance improvements. Works well when you can keep mobo and RAM!
