    HEXUS and VIA's Super Christmas System Giveaway!

    When we do competitions, we do them properly. We have teamed up with VIA to make sure you have a brilliant Christmas. We have put together an absolutely fantastic system for you. To be frank, I'm more excited about the prospect of winning a VIA Technologies T-Shirt, but an Athlon FX based PC wouldn't go amiss.
    Looking forward to Christmas? Hoping to get a fat stocking full of presents? Just want to get your hands on a fat PC system to pass the winter hours? We can't help you if you're a scrooge and we can't help you out in time for Christmas, but we can help you start the new year with a high-performance bang. Since it's nearly 2005, we thought we'd round up some of 2004's best PC components with the help of some of our partners, have two of the UK's finest system integrators stick them all into 2004's best chassis, before tweaking the nuts off it and giving it away to one lucky reader from anywhere in the world on the first day of 2005.
    Yes, you read correctly, the system has actually had its nuts tweaked off! You probably don't want to dwell on that though; entering the competition is far more important. Find out how, right here.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Well, this does come across as a bit of a trick question. The system being given away has the via K8T800 Pro cipset which obviously supports a HT speed of 1000MHz; however, the question is what is the maximum HT speed of the K8T800 chipset. This is a different chipset and one which, as far as I can see, Via is no longer promoting. It has a maximum (official) Ht speed of 800MHz, although in general it'll support 1000MHz with no difficulty.

    If no-one's going to clarify the question then I might as well have a guess anyway, but it seems a bit odd to have a competition advertising a current chipset with a question about an old one....

    The K8T800 'Pro' Chipset : http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/ch...ies/k8t800pro/

    Which features :

    http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/ch...series/hyper8/

    The only 'trick' is the fact people are not looking on the VIA site....

    Unhappy

    Well, that handily makes MY answer wrong, since the question's been changed. The question, as Rich pointed out, asked for the hypertransport speed of the K8T800, not the K8T800 Pro, and that's the question I answered. I take it it's only one entry accepted per email address?
