Yeah, there are so many games I would like to see on this device, I could sit here all day listing them.

    Commodore 64 DTV

What can I say? I'm a nostalgia junkie when it comes to reliving my childhood (This is the man who has a complete set of Transformers DVDs...), and this product has caught me hook, line and sinker in that respect. If you owned the C64 in your youth, or wanted to, you'll find a few hours of entertainment in checking out the games on offer and reminiscing about when you used to have a joystick just like this one. It could also offer after-pub entertainment aplenty, being as 'pick up and play'-able as it is. There are some truly classic games of their time in the compilation, which could well give the device some longevity once that initial buzz of 'Wow! A Commodore 64!' has worn off.

I noticed straight away most the games were from Hewson.

Would have liked to see some System 3 games (Last Ninja series, all time favourite games even to this day regardless of technology, IK+) Thalamus for Creatures, Retrograde, Imagine / Ocean for games like Yie Ar Kung Fu, Renegade series. U.S Gold for their Winter games and Summer games as well as Ace of Aces and loads of other conversions.

I personally think when companies do things like this they should have a cartridge slot in the device so you could expand on what you already have and build up the C64 collection that way instead of just sticking 30 games in it and be done with it. Then a few months later releasing another one with a different 30 games for another 30 notes.

Yeah I probably will buy one, I was brought up on the C64 and still have a working machine with virtually every game released on it on tape and disc (tape and disc drives still work also, joystick is starting to give out on it though (Powerplay Cruiser) last time I tested it.

At present though I will stick to my emulation, just finding a really good C64 emulator that runs perfect on XP as the one I use at the min prefers DOS and I get no sound out of it at all !

    The review was absolutely superb.

I will be buying one myself very soon as I loved the 64 and still do to this day (Brought up on it !) I just think companies should do it so it could be expanded on to build up a huge collection of some of the most classic games of all time

Great review, bit you neglected to mention the coolest thing about this device, which is that the chip that powers it was designed one woman, who's a self taught chip designer. I would link to the page but it loads up and then claims to have expired; very irritating. Cleverer people than myself can probably extract it from their browser cache or something:

    Second story down.

It's a pity the author of the review didn't actually opened the joystick.

He would have discovered the ps2 bus for a keyboard and a dyn input for a 1541 drive to attach to

Ewps sorry... i was too fast... you have to apply the hacks yourself, but some guy put a detailed page upon how he did it:

    http://creztor.blogspot.com/2004/11/...-joystick.html

    http://creztor.blogspot.com/2004/11/...-try-load.html

So the true C64 fanatics probably don't nessesarily need to look further for a replacement...

Indeed Jiff, also looking forward to Uridium and Winter/Summer Games. Maybe they saved California Games for a version #2. Just as there are two versions of the Capcom (i think) stick out with Pacman on one and Ms Pacman on another.

Off the top of my head - a few games I'd like to have seen:

    Boulder Dash
    Crazy Comets
    Wizball
    Ik+
    Thing on a spring
    Bounder
    Thrust
    Terra Cresta
    Parallax

Many of the above games have GREAT music, the main reason I remember 'em.

Must have been the case that they picked games that were easy to get a Licence for, imagine the headaches involved trying to get something like Bomb Jack or Bionic Commando which first appeared in the arcades.

Anyway, looking forward to this and a version #2.

Otherwise, do as a mate of mine has done, chip your X-box and get a simulator and pretty much every C64 game that exists! Hmmm.

oh and I wish two players were supported, never laughed so much as when playing the orig Spy vs Spy with my bro all those years ago.

Oh and Jiff who posted above me I have known for over 20 years - I only know him coz of the C64

    Aint that right Jeff!
