That is impressive - over longer sessions does the boost stay consistent out of interest??

Re: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile (Asus ROG G752VS)

Are there any gaming battery life results?

I saw elsewhere a review that got 85 minutes on a 1060 laptop in Witcher 3, was wondering how this 1070 compared.

9lbs though ... tbh it's a lot of weight and money for a laptop - you really will need to have very specific needs for gaming for this to be viable over a reasonable desktop system - relocatable SFF with handle for example.

What a beast. Yes it's big and heavy but still portable and with a GPU like that it does compete with a desktop on performance.

it's a shame you can't use the integrated GPU as the power saved would make it more useful for other tasks when using it on the go .

    Plus monitor, keyboard and mouse?

Desktops take up a lot more space to use, and are a lot harder to carry around, than a laptop. You'd basically need a backpack just for peripherals, and then you'd need to carry your base unit around too. Or you can chuck everything in the backpack. A lot of people value that kind of convenience. Plus there's the bragging rights of turning up at a mate's house and pulling out a laptop that's faster than his desktop, of course

    "Expect a significant price premium"

Why? All of this is a bit unfair but we, of course, do not have to buy.

P.s. Isn't Intel set to release new CPUs? Then why not wait for the 'next' new model with a new CPU and GPU? The people that purchased the 5700hq must have been annoyed when the 6700hq arrives!

Because a new CPU gets you an insignificant performance increase compared to these GPUs?

Disgusting! Have you seen the prices? Any excuse to hike them way up and, compared to the last gen, hardly none of them are affordable (if you call a £1k+ laptop affordable).

    Greedy little companies.

Re: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile (Asus ROG G752VS)

excalibur, if you don't like the pricing, then don't buy the product. That's how supply and demand is supposed to work. If market demand is pushing pricing higher because people can afford it, then get a better job; that's what happens when an economy spikes. A company's purpose is to make money; calling them greedy doesn't make sense, nobody is forcing one to buy their products.

Parm, a minor request, when doing bench comparisons can you please include the 970M? It's bizarre that almost nobody is comparing the mobile 1070 to the previous GPU it replaces by name. Also, please mention in the product names on the graphs which GPU they have, as product codes hardly remind one of which one is which.

Did you miss the bit where I wrote, 'we, of course, do not have to buy'?
