Thankfully that seems to be disappearing. There aren't any cat cores on the future roadmap, and right now socket AM1 components seem to be drying up. I wonder if that means they are no longer being made, AMD always seem to get caught with large stocks of old components when the new range comes out, hopefully they sold these off while they were still worth something.

Oooh, yeah, I'd completely forgotten that they also had cat core APUs with the Athlon branding!

It would be nice for AMD to get to a launch where they can just clear the old stock and start fresh*, although I'm still confused about the lack of AM4 APUs in the channel when they've been with OEMs for over 6 months...

*EDIT: without their financials being hit by huge write-downs of old stock, that is...

I think it is the old stock of AM3 and FM2 parts which is the problem and AMD is trying to clear these out first, otherwise it makes no sense especially since Bristol Ridge has a modern video decode engine that can handle H265. That is the main advantage I would say Intel has in the IGP area over AMD currently.
