Exactly what I was about to say. I'm yet to see any of AMD or NVidia's new cards actually available for purchase. Reviews may as well just say 'oooo, doesn't it look nice?'

Well right now they have 21.941 factory orders from high roller miners to contend with first, so yeah not many cards for the poor gamers.

Cheapest of 13 listed 6700XT cards at proshop are 880 USD / 631 GBP. ( power color fighter )
Most expensive are 1121 USD / 803 GBP ( Gigabyte Aorous Elite )

Only MERC 319 black available now, other ordered cards with arrival times are start / mid next month, the remaining 9 models are ordered but no know arrival date

Numbers arriving will probably be limited too of course.

You wouldn't happen to be interested in a GT 710, would you? There are over 70 of them in shop at the local brick and mortar. Delivering bottom-rung performance for over five years.

In other words I agree. Haven't found any stock, and most of the partner cards have prices nearly double the MSRP. It might have made sense that a smaller die = more chips = more cards, but if there were they disappeared instantly.

There was an awesome LTT review by someone other than Linus. He introduced the card by taking a printout of it from the printer and proceeding to cut it out, placing the paper card on the table instead of the real card.

Scalpers at the very least started it, and set a precedent.
They demonstrated a market which will tolerate that, and unsurprisingly the supply chain followed suit, be it retailers or distributors.
The real source isn't known because everyone blames someone else.
I'm sure if Nvidia and AMD would actually pull supply away form those with excessive pricing, then the culprits would be found quickly enough.

It's actually easy to buy a graphics card.
All you need to do, is buy a complete PC from any online retailer. And, they have quite a good selection.
Retailers don't seem to have trouble finding them for thier own builds.
Scan, Ebuyer, Aria, overclockers, Currys. Could have probably got a new card from any of those anyday in the last 2 months.

Shouldn't the gaming industry be worried? Surely - I can't get my hands on the latest graphics technology (latest being anything under three years old) - leads to the follow on question, I can't hope to play this game at anything like high quality so why bother? I wonder whether the success of games like 'Loop Hero' are indicative of people's attitude to the Nvidia AMD tussle - what's the point?

Nope - they will always generate content for the hardware their market has at the expected time of release. Their shouldn't be a massive amount of hardware failure in existing GPUs so devs can continue to make games for the hardware people actually have.

Got the 6700 XT Hellhound and have been very happy with it so far. Temps are excellent. Very similar to this card, and with current 3070 prices, the minimal upgrade for almost £300 is just not worth it.
