    ASUS Radeon 9800XT/TVD

"It overclocks decently, SmartDoctor makes it quieter than almost any other card, it's presented well, exudes quality and carries ASUS' 3 year warranty. Factor Half Life 2 into the price too, if you're feeling that way inclined. Shipping date for that title stops it making any real difference though.

Hey everybody! And thanks for the excellent review!

Ok, heres a legitimate question. In the articles pictures you can see a PAL sticker on top of the s-vid port. Does that mean the card will only work in the PAL region or will it also work in NTSC system countries?

For example if I use the tv-in option to watch television in a PAL tv-system country, will the same card work in the NTSC region?

    all help much appreciated!!

NTSC cards will be sold in NTSC regions Sales are localised, you'll get the right card for the TV region you are in.

so its region locked? that sucks!

I move around quite a lot so I was hoping it wouldnt be the case. I was hoping I could use it in NTSC and PAL regions. So its a hardware lock? Not a software option?

Anyone have a email addie for ASUS. I could ask them directly about it. The ones I found on their site just gave me a delivery failure message.

    Thanks for your help!!

The only way i know that you could get it to change region is with a BIOS upgrade.

Backup your old Video card BIOS and then flash a new one thats for NTSC, and matches your videocard exactly..

Also keep an old PCI video card handy incase it goes wrong, and the if it does then leave your AGP card in and plug in your PCI card as well and you can still see what your doing while you flash your old BIOS back on..
