    Hi There

I think your suppliers are getting confused between the Hercules Prophetview 920 (DVI and Non DVI) and the hercules Prophetview 920 Pro (DVI and Non DVI)

The former is discontinued the latter are in high demand and are thus very hard to get hold of.

As for other monitors being the same the panel is used in the hercules is used in a couple of different displays I dont know the model numbers offhand but I would imagine that the Hitatchi uses the same panel but you would have to confirm this with them.

I know there is supposed to be a new supply of the non dvi's soon and the dvi's in a month or two

    Hope that helps

I know for a fact The Hercules 920 Pro and Hyundai Q17 both use the Hydis 20ms panel made by Hyundai. The Acer also uses the Hydis panel.

Hitachi use the AU Oprontics panel which is also used in LG's, Iiyama's and Viewsonic screens.

But, Hitachi might have switched to a different panel manufacturer. Only way to find out is to do as Gordy suggested and contact Hitachi.

    Hi,
I bought the Hyundai Q17 based on some of these reviews and some other websites. It's a great monitor but it is way too bright...and as warned at Tom's Hardware the brightness OSD doesn't do a thing. Anyone any suggestions? I think I want to keep it...I know a couple of people would say I should have bought the Iiyama E431S but I didn't and I'm scared to change because at least I can see the Q17 is okay apart from the brightness nad I'd have to post it back and all the hassleetc. How do I adjust the brightness?
    Thanks for help in advance,
    Mike-and-Lucy

Mike-and-Lucy, a housemate has an Iiyama E430S and a Q17 on the same desk. He has the Q17 because ANOTHER housemate gave up on it, as the silly brightness & substandard screen filters hurt his eyes. it's used for showing extra xterm or putty windows.

there's so very much more to TFTs than the panel.

Sadly, the Hydis screen isn't as cheap as the 16ms screens. The CML175SXW2B does indeed use the Hydis screen as shown here:

And it is AWESOME. I'm having no issues with anything, up to and including the HL2 beta floating around the net. I love mine. A friend of mine just ebayed his Dell 1800fp to get one after playing UT2004 on mine. Hurry up and snatch one of these displays before they are gone forever.

emul8, don't understand it with that site. you don't get to see any more details about the product you are actually buying lol. So lob it in your basket and hope and pray that you have the right one for any product they sell.

I managed to obtain a Hercules ProphetView 920 PRO DVI before the mad rush for them, so far I have been very pleased with its performance and general good looks. Since then, anyone who comes round and is into computers, sees the TFT and instantly says "I want one"
Just a dam shame they're now discontinued
