An anonymous philosopher once said: “While it is possible to change without improving, it is impossible to improve without...

...blah, blah, blah...
Let be honest here, Alienware built their business based on a novelty case design, and a tired one too. Simple as that. It's the Häagen-Dazs of the PC world, overpriced and aimed at people with far more money than knowledge or sense (you know, like Stuff magazine readers). And recently they have made some rather dubious componant choices for their machines, but who cares, you can buy one with starwars on the side! Yeah, nothing wrong with that, good on 'em, but spare us the yawn-tastic speach. I doubt many people on these forums have Alienware PC's, most people around here have a thing called common sense.

A famous philosopher said that “only he who attempts the absurd can achieve the impossible.”
Whats absurd and Alienware's business model or PC's, apart from the price and the fact that people are obviously not bored with that case design yet?

No way, Haagen-Daz ice cream really is better, it's hard to find a brand name with a better strawberry than haagen daz at the supermarket.

Häagen-Dazs is made buy a company that used to make standard, but very nice, ice cream. They were selling it a reasonable price, yet they were not doing as well as they hoped. They got a marketing guru in who said that if they gave it a fancy name and sold it at a premium they would sell more because people would asume that it must be the best you can buy and want it. Perceived quality, and it worked a treat. It's a classic example of perceived quality and overpricing to make people think price = quality, they use it at uni on business courses.

Anyway, perpahps not the best analogy and talk about going off on a tangent!
