    HEXUS.reviews :: Galaxy GeForce 7300 GT GDDR3

    Using nearly exactly the same PCB and cooler as its 7600 GS GDDR3, and with as much memory (256MiB), really the only thing differentiating the two to look at is the backplane. The 7300 GT GDDR3 carries DVI and VGA, as well as video output, rather than the dual DVI of the 7600 GS.

    I bought one from overclockers UK. They also do their own cheaper 7300GT DDR3but the RAM is a bit slower (1200 vs this one's default 1400). Dabs also do a 7300GT DDR3.

    Only had running for a few hours but initial impressions....

    Decent quiet cooler. I run no case fans, low RPM CPU cooler and passive PSU so when I say pretty quiet I mean it. Not silent, but decently quiet.

    The RAM on mine went up to 763 on the auto-overclock, and GPU to 528. Put GPU back to stock so far and left RAM at 750 (effectively 1500) with no ill effects so far playing Dark Messiah demo. I'm not prepared to tick always run fan at fastest settings just to eke out a few more FPS as I'm a silentness fanatic.

    Big test will come tomrrow when I chuck Oblivion at it..... the reason I finally ditched my wonderful Matrox G450 PCI with DVI out. To ber honest I still prefer the Matrox's 2D colour balance, but it is better than ANY other 2D card out there I've come across - and I've tried a few. Personally I'd place the 7300GT's 2D mildly above the 9800 pro I had last year. Unless you're obsessively fussy about your 2D it isn't an issue - honest.

    Anyway - so far so good. Better work well in Oblivion though or the reviewer is in for a rude email from me!

    Followup

    Yeah - Oblivion plays ok on it at 1024x768 with HDR on. There are some lurches at times but I think it is the system loading levels and scenes and doesn't fell like graphics chug..

    Also tited the Dark Messiah of Ma dn M through till end and runs sweet with it.
