Wine invite for house warming

It was either going to be here or general.

Me and my flatmate have just moved into our new place and are planning a flat warming in a couple weeks which may be a bit wild. In my previous places my other flatmates have always done the whole thing of give a bottle of wine to the neightbours, introduce yourself and also say "Hey we are having a house warming, here's a bottle either come along and say hello or I'm sorry for the noise heres a bottle!"

My problem is I don't drink wine so I have no idea what to get. I prob need to get 6 bottles to be safe but I don't want to appear cheap but at the same time I don't want to add a £100 bill.

Recommendations?

Most people will not have a clue what the price is anyway, to be honest I think they would be grateful of having polite neighbours moving in.
Back to the wine, I would go for a white, more people drink it than red. One option would be a white rioja, tends to be very nice, and a bit unusual, many people don't know it exists. Waitrose do a couple, priced under a tenner.

I'd say the opposite actually - reds tend to be more accepted IMHO.

However the suggestion of a white rioja is great - it's one of the few whites I really like. However it's sometimes a bit pricey.

For a very reliable red, get wolf blass yellow label cab sav. You should be able to get it around £7 a bottle, sometimes less, sometimes more. It's always drinkable and a step up from most sub £10 bottles of wine.

you could be fresh at this and come at it from another angle.

look for locally pressed fruit juices... apple juice from herefordshire or something like that.. according to region in uk

being proud of local produce is good.... and local fruit juices are great.
