Cat's value food review: rice pudding review

Brands compared: Asda,Tesco and Morrisons.
Expensive brand compared:Ambrosia.

Verdict.

They taste more or less all the same,but Morrisons seem to have half the rice and twice the liquid of the other two value brands. Ambrosia is expensive for what it is. Asda and Tesco win by default.

The Moose liked Ambrosia the best since it thought the can tasted nicer - higher quality steel??

Instant noodles - Comparing Super Noodles, Asda and Tesco. I generally prefer the curry flavours myself; I've tried others from various brands but a lot of the flavours taste quite plasticky/artificial IMO.

I like Super Noodles least, they just seem more sickly than the others. It's a while since I tried the Tesco ones but IIRC the standard and value brands tasted roughly the same, just the value pack is smaller. As for the Asda ones, there does seem to be a taste difference between the two, as well as the size difference (Value was tiny last time I checked), with the standard Asda branded ones winning out IMO, although I don't find just one pack very filling.

Yes,they are better than the canned stuff. However,the best ones I have had seem to take ages to make.

Not really "value" unless it's on offer (which seems pretty frequent) but I've tried a powdered rice pudding (think it was Aunt Bessies or some similar brand). Just add milk and heat it up. Takes a bit longer than canned stuff but it was amazing.

Rice pudding is pretty global. A Danish bloke was telling me they have an cold almondy one with hot jam. On the Indian sub continent they have it with cinnamon. I think you just simmer rice in milk.
