    Meat and Potato Pie

I just made my best one of these yet tonight, so i figured I might aswell share my recepie

All the ingredient amounts listed below can be varied depending on how many people you wish to serve.

Serves 2-4 people (depending on appetite!)

    4 large baking potatoes
    500g diced beef
    2 carrots
    1 large onion
    1 bisto cube
    salt/pepper
500g of shortcrust pastry - i use a prepacked one from sainsburys but you can make your own if you like
    water ~1/2 a pint

    1) Start off by finding a casserole dish - preferable a deep one.
    2) Take your beef and cut off the fat, then dice it further into roughly 2cm squared blocks (doesnt have to be exact)
    3) Place the beef in the dish so that it covers the bottom as best you can. Place the peeled whole onion in the center of the meat.
    4) Peel the carrots and grate them into the meat - mix them into the meat so that all the carrot is not on top of it.
    5) Add a few twists of Salt and Pepper, and the oxo cube
    6) Cover with tin foil, and place into a pre heated oven at Gas Mark 5 = 375F = 190C
    7) Leave this to cook for roughly 2hrs until its tender. The best way to tell if it is cooked or not is to try a piece, if its chewey then its not done, if its soft then it is
    8) Peel the potatoes and chop into roughly 2cm squared blocks
    9) Put them in a pan and bring them to the boil, then turn down the heat and keep them simmmering until they go soft - this should take about 10mins.
    10) While they are cooking you can roll out your pastry so that its big enough to cover your dish.
    11) Take the meat out of the oven and remove the foil plus the onion. Pour in the potatoes and mix them up with the meat
    12) Cover the dish with the pastry, and make 2 slits in the top.
    13) Cook for ~30mins until the pastry is golden brown.

Thats about it! Serve either on its own, or with beetroot.

Any questions, thoughts, problems just ask I've probly missed something out so lmk if i have
