Any guacamole fans in here, heres my take on it

Yep, Im a guac fan, its been tricky of late as avocado prices have gone up recently after 'Spoons offered avocado smash, but hey ho, Lidl to the rescue.

Mine is all hand made, no machine used.

Lidls 2x ready to eat avocados
    a decent sized chilli
    a small onion (red/pink)
a small piece of ginger root (about the size of yer thumb end)
small piece of red sweet pepper (about 3" x 3")
    half a lime
    salt/pepper
half a teaspoon of ground cumin
about a handful of chopped fresh coriander leaf.

Halve the avocados, remove stone, scoop out flesh and roughly mash with a fork on a chopping board. Scrape the mush into a dish.
VERY finely shred the onion, ginger, red pepper & chilli and add to mush.
Squeeze the lime into it and add the salt, pepper and cumin and finally a heap of fresh coriander leaves, shredded

Mix well, chill for an hour, then serve on hot toast.

You might also add a tomato, deseeded and shredded finely if you like it sweeter.

Re: Any guacamole fans in here, heres my take on it

Had it for the first time a couple of days ago and thought it wasn't nice. It was a dip from Tesco and it tasted strongly of coriander, which I strongly dislike.

Is it just weird to have coriander in guacamole or is it common.

Hmmm... So.. If you were to edit your recipe, how many corianders should I put in?

I'll get my good lady's recipe and post. She makes a mean guac. I never liked the shop bought stuff but hers, and some of our friends' homemade ones are simply delicious.

Never thought of adding ginger, will have to give it a try - thanks for the recipe. Btw Morrisons do 1kg bags of avocados for £2.40, we easily get through a bag a week!
