    Need help with my Horseradish!

I love Horseradish, mainly with beef but it's nice with some types of fish too.

The other day someone pointed out that i have tons of it growing in my garden. I looked up a few reciepes and dug a couple of roots out today. I'm not sure if i am even digging it up at the right time of the year.

The source i made is ok, but a bit bland and no as nice as the stuff you buy from the supermarket.

Anyone have any tips or recipies?

When grating it did it make you cry and feel that your eyes were going to explode? Thats what fresh, in season horseradish does. Yours may have been too old perhaps?

It did a bit, but not massively. I think it was either too young or too old. I have googled, but cant find any info on what time of year (in the UK) it should be ready.
