Sense restored at New Line, thankfully.
Dunno if Jackson himself will end up directing it or not yet, but the odds must be pretty good..

Great news
Shame its a long wait
Excellent!
I didn't know it was going to be shown as two films. Thats great news too. Six plus more hours of Middle Earth? Yes please!
I do hope McKellen signs up to do it... couldn't imagine anybody else as Gandalf.
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
Indeed, he is perfect for that role
I think if Jackson has any say in it, McKellen certainly will wear the robe again

I certainly hope so! All in all great news for us LOTR geeks. It's a long way away though! I thought they had started filming this ages ago (or were at least meant to), I didn't know there was any dispute going on!
Allegedly the chances of him directing are pretty low - he's booked up on two more films (one of them Tin Tin, yaaaawn) so his time's limited - however it's good news they've finally settled and hopefully McKellen will reprise as Gandalf again (he's said he's keen to do so.)
