Re: is it easy to install a ram in a laptop? please give me advice!!

It all depends on the laptop.

My old Sony Vaio was easy as the ram was access through one screw on the back with opened one part to access the ram. Yes its the same as a desktop, however you should check on the manufacturers website if there is a maximum capacity.

However some laptops are a major pain in the @rse to get to the ram, and need 4000000000 screws removed (slight exageration) just to get near the ram.

If you have experience building 6 (working?) PC's then you should have no difficulty installing ram, a hdd or a cpu into a laptop.

If it's a Dell, yes. I've done it numerous times, just a screw or two, flip the panel out and slot the ram in

Make sure it won't invalidate your warranty, if you care about it, as some companies aren't too happy with you doing it. Apparently there are potential legal problems from manufacturers not allowing you to upgrade such basic components under warranty, but I can't comment on that.

You shouldn't get too hung up on matching the speed and timings either. So long as they're in the same ballpark then the system usually just defaults to the speed of the slowest stick.
