My father in law wants me to build him a new computer - he's on an old Athlon x2 I think, it might even be single core thinking about it.
Anyway, whilst spec'ing something up for him, it occurred to me that I could upgrade my rig to a new core i5, and he could have the old bits which are probably still much better than his current rig.
Anyway, the bits I would pass on to him are:
- Intel Q6600 - can't remember stepping, think it's the later one (G0?) but I'm running at 3ghz
- Cooler - Big Typhoon 120vx (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=8757&page=71)
- Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
- Geil Ultra DDR2 PC6400 800MHz (4-4-4-12) - 4 x 1gb
The price check is just in case he insists on giving me something for these bits - the last thing I want to do is rip him off!
(By comparison, the intel 2500k + mboard + 4gb ddr3 ram I had specced for him comes to about £290)
thanks for any help
