    32 bit version of OS can't use more than 4GB of RAM. You need 64bit OS. Try Win 7 64bit to use your 8GB RAM.

    Yes I know. I'll re-phrase it then:

    If you are feeling brave, try the download that Microsoft are giving away to try and astroturf support for their next OS product and hence sell more copies when it finally comes out whilst getting them free feedback on their new user interface. In this case their cynical marketing could work in your favour.

    Better?

    (I thought "Beta" was close enough without showing my Linux bias).

    You will need the 64 bit windows 7 version to get the full ram showing.
