DDR3 CAS question but in Nehalem i7 920

DDR3 CAS question but in Nehalem i7 920

So I have been researching but all tests I see are with Sandy Bridge and some people are saying that the results (no real differences) are due to sandy bridge.
    What about Nehalem?

I currently have 6GB DDR3 cas 7 and want to move to 12GB for my music work with big VST instruments. Not sure if I should save cash and get a Cas 9 kit or if with Nehalem , Cas 7 does make some difference.
I will be gaming, editing videos and photos too.

    Regards

    I have a local selling a kit for $45 of G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

It's the same. Sandy Bridge is only an evolution of the nehalem memory controller. CAS 9 is good enough and you won't notice any different going faster.

Then $45 for that local kit sounds decent. I will look around for cas9 prices and check if that is a nice price.
Thanks for confirming it was the same thing with both.

Couple of points in benchmarks but nah, no real difference at all. That G.skill sounds like a bargain grab it
