    AMP mwmory ?

    Hello
I need a bit of advice regards memory
I've purchased a Asus F2A85-M MB and will be sticking a AMD APU A8 5600K - maybe a A10 if the funds stretch
I was about to purchase this memory Kingston 8GB HyperX DDR3 2133MHz XMP Beast Series £43
Then someone posted this on another forum youtube.com/watch?v=O0lQjIEeXFE&noredirect=1
cant post the url as i don't have the post count, but it goes on about enabling AMP settings
And now I'm confused, 'AMP memory' the Kingston memory will it support AMP at all, not at all ?
How do I know if memory does support AMP, I've searched Google but cant find any memory that explicitly states it supports AMP

    Re: AMP mwmory ?

If you look at the AMD website, it lists the partners which enrolled AMP support (mainly MB manufacturers) > AMD Memory Licensed Partners . Not sure if this support is directly for AMP.

If you go to your boards website > ASUS F2A85-M , it does states that it supports AMP, but when you click to the Memory/Device Support, the memory modules you posted, are not listed there and neither did I see any memory modules with AMP support (seen some with XMP).

Take a chance, if the memory modules will not work out for you, just return them back and go for some from the support list?

    Re: AMP mwmory ?

I wouldnt worry about it if i were you, Intel's XMP can be sellected in the bios for easy setup, AMD's alternative is a memory profile you download and apply through the overdrive software they offer for overclockers, i have no idea if its changed much but it was extremely buggy when i last had chance to test it, most of my atempts using AMD's method led to nothing but dissapointment, my old X4 955 wouldnt even download the profiles, my X4 965 wouldnt boot on the profile it downloaded and my X6 T1090 would run but i found i could get better performance by manually appling all the settings myself.

As i said i have no idea if this has changed, since they are on a completely different line up of CPU's and had plenty of time to refine the software but i doubt you'll find it difficult to setup your memory manually in the bios.

    Re: AMP mwmory ?

thanks for the replys - appreciated

I'll go with the Kingston 8GB HyperX DDR3 2133MHz XMP Beast Series
Maybe at some time in the future memory providers will state support for AMP - just not yet
    again thanks
