    32GB on Asus P8H67-I Deluxe?

If a mobo says max 16GB is that a hard limit or just due to the limit of stick sizes available at its release?

I have a Asus P8H67-I Deluxe which has two DDR3 DIMM slots - is there any way to get 32GB of RAM in this thing? Or even 24GB? And if it will work, are 16GB sticks still stupidly expensive?

BIOS limitations? power draw? chipset architecture? I don't know but i can see a number of aspects that need to be checked. Or you could just stick it in and try it for size (at your own risk of course)

Hmmm, seems I need to just be content with 16GB or try and get an answer out of Asus (not that I have much hope)...

Last time I checked, 16GB UDIMMs did not exist. Consumer motherboards all use Unbuffered DIMMs (UDIMMs)
Even if you can now buy 16GB UDIMMs the price difference will almost certainly be more than just buying a motherboard with 4 DIMM slots and putting 4x8GB DIMMs in it.
Servers can often use Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs) and 16GB has been around for years. In fact, you can now get 32GB LRDIMMS for servers that support them but they are mega bucks.

Can't you use RDIMMs and just not get the benefit?

As for the new motherboard, are there ITX cases with 4 slots?
