Gibbo on OcUK said 2400MHZ to 2667MHZ was optimal and 3000MHZ is where things would top out at. I suspect it might also be worth seeing if latency is more important too - it used to be the case with the Phenom II CPUs IIRC.
well looking at Kingston .. 3000mhz 15/15/15/35 better to have it than not ??

If you can afford it,I would try to get a decentish 3GHZ kit, with decent latencies to have all bases covered,as if latency is more important you can drop down to a lower clockspeed and decrease latencies. I currently have a 2400MHZ lowish latency kit which I got for a decent price, but I only really intend to get a 4C/8T or 6C/12T Ryzen and don't really overclock so it won't bother me as much.
15/15/15/35 I thought that was decentish lol ... coming from an 8350 .. ddr3 cough so not up to speed on ddr 4 .. just know I don't like corsair ..

Well it appears 3000MHZ RAM is what AMD is supplying with the review kits and Corsair confirmed they were running 4 3000MHZ sticks fine.
As usual, you need to look at the webpage for each motherboard you are considering and review the Memory QVL - to find what kits are in the size you want and what speeds and cas are available. Also note - http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-conte...ry-support.jpg - what dimms to use.
The speed you get on the memory may depend on the specific CPU you get depending especially if you overclock. 3000 sounds about right for max OC.

Don't know if it's still relevant to you flearider, but according to AMD's own Robert Hallock Ryzen doesn't have memory dividers for 3000 MT/s or 3400 MT/s. If you want to run the memory at rated speeds without messing with the base clock you'll need to go for 2933, 3200 or 3500 MT's kits...
Higher clocked RAM works better with Ryzen. You should check your motherboards QVL for what memory to use. I have a gigabyte GA AB350m and my Corsair Vengeance 3200MHZ, will only reach 2933, but it is not on my motherboards QVL.
