Hi
If I start with 1GB DIMM, will I limit performance by not being able to write to two DIMMs at once?
Also, at what point will 8Gb limit performance?

Do you mean 1 x 1Gb DIMM? I'm not even sure DDR4 is available in 1Gb capacities? If you mean a single DIMM rather than two, then yes, your memory bandwidth will be halved. You may or may not notice the difference though, depending on the applications you're using. If you're using an APU (with built-in graphics), you should definitely try to run two DIMMs, as the GPU will need as much memory bandwidth as it can get.
