Asus P5Q Deluxe will not boot from cd / dvd Rom

I built this system 3.5 years ago for my daughter, absolutely no problems.

P5Q Deluxe motherboard, Q6600 CPU Overclocked to 3.2
    Samsung 500GB Sata Hard Drive.
    Two DVD Rom Sata burners.
    Vista 64 bit O/S.

Anyway she called the other day the problem was the computer would not go into windows.
It would blue screen, restart go into the screen with the Safe Mode etc menu then loop in that cycle.

The computer will not load into Safe Mode or any other mode on the menu.

Collected the computer Saturday morning and been fiddling with it since.

I thought O.K stick in the O/S disk and do a Repair that is the other problem.

Will not boot from DVD Roms.

Recognised in the Bios but will not load, I have changed boot sequence in BIOS

    Things I have tried:-

Cleared RTC Ram by moving Jumper (a few times)
Took out CMOS battery for 10 (again a few times)
Unplugged everything leaving just DVD Rom and Hard drive (tried hard drive only and Rom only)
Also tried a IDE CD Rom drive, again recognised in BIOS but will not boot from it
    .
I cannot think of anything else. Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Thanks for reading such a long post.

Re: Asus P5Q Deluxe will not boot from cd / dvd Rom

Is the disc damaged? Have you tried another boot disc of any kind?

Also, when you change the boot type to CD/DVD is there any delay booting from BIOS to the correct boot device? I find there is usually a few seconds delay if I have my boot drive set to CD/DVD and there is nothing in it, then it will load the next boot device.

EDIT: Also, when you treid the IDE drive was there an option of something like "IDE Boot Rom" in your BIOS? If so was it set to 'Enable'

Doing a repair probs wont fix it anyway, I have never had Windows 7 get itself in a mess unless there was some hardware problem

Have you tried taking out a stick of RAM etc?

    Thanks for the replies.

The disc works fine on my laptop.

The cd rom (IDE) was recognised in the BIOS and was enabled as 1st Boot drive as are the Sata drives.

Not tried using one stick of memory yet, will try now.
