Gigabyte A75N-USB3 with AMD 3870k - Can't change clocks of RAM or CPU

I'm having a great deal of trouble underclocking or changing any of the setting from simply auto. Once i do this, it will not reboot to windows.

I have low voltage 1.35v kingston RAM rated at 1600mhz at standard 9 settings. Ibelieve i have set the voltage to this properly by manually setting it. But the motherboard wants to see it as 1333mhz. If i try to change it to 1600mhz it doesn't like it.

The CPU is 3870k so it's unlocked. However i want to underclock and undervolt it. Again I believe i have underclocked it by setting the voltage as -0.200 which puts it around 1.215 (from memory) and this boots fine. But i can't even underclock the multiplier at all.

First, is there anyway to confirm that the voltages and speeds i have changed them to are what they actually are.

    Second how can successfully underclock?

    Am i missing something?

    Thanks everyone.

Can I ask why do you want to under clock your CPU for

Power saving. Simple as. There is no reason 99% of the time to need to use that much power. So i want the lowest idle power draw possible.

I dont know the mobo that well, but if there is a offset voltage option that will help reduce idle power draw, while allowing you to keep the clock speed.
