Small chunk missing from south bridge chip.

Hey guys! I just had a major mishap that I wanted to share with you all.
I've been having some issues getting my computer to run at full speed lately after being overclocked for a few years, so I was forced to slow it down. I decided it was best to take it apart and clean it while replacing the thermal compound with something a little more efficient (IC Diamond). Well, I took the heatsink off the the CPU without much issue, but I wanted to get the FSB (NB) back up to par because I suspected it's what was causing the problems in the first place.
Unfortunately, on my Asus P5K Deluxe board, the heatsinks for the NB, SB, and some mosfets are all one piece due to being joined by copper heat transfer pipes. So, after I managed to get the NB and the mosfets loose, I went after the SB.
Now, many of you who have replaced thermal compound know how it likes to stick after it's been on for a while. Well, this compound was rock-solid and wasn't allowing me to twist it off at all. So, I sort of pried a little. While I managed to get the heatsink off completely, I managed to take a small chunk of plastic including a T and E from Intel with it. I suppose I would like to ask how far down do you all suspect the actual components of the SB are and does anyone have a spare Asus P5K Deluxe board by any chance? >_<
I'm on an extremely strict budget considering I have less than $30 to my name right now and am disabled.

    Thanks!

The obvious first step would be to plug it all back in and see if it posts. If it does, then start saving for a new MoBo anyway.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Okay, so it started shooting sparks and now my house is on fire. What do I do?

Nah, I'll get it back together later today after I get it all cleaned up. But, I can see what look like fine wires in the black plastic, so it seems like it would fail. So, while I'm checking that, I'm open to data as to how deep the actual wiring of the south bridge is for a little shred of hope. Otherwise, I don't even think this chip is remotely easy to replace. : /

Okay, so I've run into another problem which I believe might be the issue I had in the first place. Asus used a thermal compound which does not remove with thermal compound remover or alcohol. It's the equivalent of thermal concrete and had rendered this board useless. If anyone has a P5K deluxe or premium board, DO NOT REMOVE THE HEATSINK. It's a thermal glue.

get some fine wet and dry sandpaper a sheet of glass and spend a few hrs lapping it ..

Yeah, with seeing wire ends from the chunk missing from the southbridge, it's toast. I've listed it on Ebay as a parts board if anyone's interested.
