I had a AX370 Gaming 5 for my 1600X. It had all the bells and whistles and seemed like a solid board. Only after a bit of time i got it to perform nicely, unfortunately it bricked on me after 10 months. I then went for a X470 Aorus Gaming 5 wi-fi and a new 2600X it seemed okay but that bricked after 3 months so returned it and got another only for that one to brick!! I had enough so after 16 years of having AMD i went for a i5 8600k with a Gigabyte Aorus H370 and it worked like a charm ( Yes I know another Gigabyte) It was like going from a muscle car to a finely tunned sports car
I think i made a big mistake!! I gave my oldest boy my 2600X amd decided to get a MSI AMD Ryzen B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC WiFi. This is an amazing board and basically got everything going smoothly on the 1st boot up and now I want it It works a treat and i highly recomend this board. I did buy it from Scan as they were the best price 4 weeks ago https://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-...SABEgJHDfD_BwE
This is my 1st post in a long time!

I am so grateful for your blog. Really looking forward to reading more. I had an AX370 Gaming 5 for my 1600X. It had all the bells and whistles and seemed like a solid board. Only after a bit of time i got it to perform nicely, unfortunately it bricked on me after 10 months
Another very popular option https://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-...en2-aplusc-atx
going through a similar exercise meself at the moment.
Think I'm going to angle for the MSI Pro Carbon B450 or possibly an X470 board
I ended up going for Asus Strix B450-F. As per most of the reviews it's a great board and well worth the extra money considering AM4 will be supported into Zen 2 and beyond.
any recommendations for a mATX board paired with a 2600?
I had great experience with the MSI B450M MORTAR, especially if you can get it on a sale. However I don't think there is really anything wrong with any B chipset motherboard, so get whatever has the features you need and is a good deal.
