Presuming you mean ryzen 5000 series chips? X570 tomahawk seems to the go-to budget friendly choice these days. There is an X570s variant too IIRC with passive chipset cooling.

If budget no option then Aorus Master X570s gets my vote, but I haven't looked at the specs of some of the newer boards like the Dark Pro etc.

    X570 isn't what I consider cheap!

The MSI B550-A PRO is not too badly priced and is a very solid motherboard:

The Gaming Plus and Tomahawk have better VRMs and better cooling:

I wouldn't go for X570 unless I had a clear plan that required more PCIe 4 devices than just a GPU and SSD

I think you need to qualify that a bit.

"Affordable" is subjective. I'm looking at the best board for a 5000 right now, but I have specific needs, including 2.5Gbe ethernet, wifi 6, and plenty of pcie 4 lanes. Why? I have 2.5gbe LAN and would rather avoid a plug-in card, have wifi 6 and want maximum longevity in therms of pcie upgrade potential. I really don't much care if the resulting board is £100 or £300+ provided it does what I want. Even the latter is "affordable".

I'd suggest clarifying the budget a bit, but more importantly, clarifying what features and spec level do or don't matter to you, and what the machine is to be used for?

Beautifully and eloquently put Saracen, and equally it’s so easy to ask the question that the OP has, without them giving too much thought to the fact that all that information is in the OP’s head and theirs alone ! (I have done this myself plenty of times)

I’m only butting in here really as I have been pondering the same question for several months now... So long in fact that the X570s has since been announced and launched. My remit was as follows:

Compatible with Ryzen 5 (5800x to be precise)
Built for the long haul (I keep my rigs for as long as possible)
Well featured and able to stay relevant for as long as possible
Integrated Bluetooth (my current dongle is unreliable at best!)
    2 x M2 - a 500gb 980pro for system and an SN550 for steam
Support for a full size GFX card plus a sound card minimum
    Post display

Based on the above my personal conclusions were to eventually rule out X570 as I wanted to avoid the fan. I needed ATX to accommodate the sound card. Which left B550 and I had bounced between the value based but really well specified Gigabyte B550 Auoros pro AC at around £140 and the trio of Asus B550 boards - F, E and XE (the latter as it had a great cash back offer a few weeks back....) I even thought about a bargain basement B450 for a short while.
Anyway - everything ended up on hold when I ended up getting pinged mid July, then there were 2 weeks of annual leave and only now do I find myself looking again !
Based on my research over the last few days though I am now looking in the direction of the MSI X570s Tomahawk as it gives me everything I wanted (including NO fan) for around £235
My only quandary now is simply can I justify the extra £100 over the Gigabyte B550 ....
Given the period of time I hope the rig will last me, and the fact that I normally tend to buy a premium board (i still own and run an X58 classified ..) I probably will - but I do like to think about these things carefully lol !

My default answer is the MSI B550 A-Pro, but as others have said, unless you tell us specific requirements, then it's hard to give a more tailored answer.
