    Re: Fantasy recommendations

The Night Angel trilogy is assassin-magic fluff fantasy of the highest order complete with skimpy outfits and gigantic boobed female assassins.

The Lightbringer series is pretty wonderful and getting better as it goes on. Excited for book three.

I've got Blood Song by Anthony Ryan to read along with Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan. Not expecting a whole lot from them but they give me something to read before the deluge of new releases in August. (The Broken Eye, the Fools Assassin and so on)

The first Night Angel book I really enjoyed and while the rest of the series is good it never matched the first book for me.

Just finished Wheel of Time and actually got really caught up in, even in the boring Rand bits.

The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson is worth reading as the second one (finally) came out this March . Well worth a read if you enjoy any of the epic fantasy's. Only problem is the series started in 2010 so gonna have to wait for the next decade or two now to read them all, carn't binge read them .

Will have to check out some of the other series mentioned in here.

Animorphs is the old series written by Applegate that I personally really recommend. I read it along with Harry Potter and OMG, I think it deserved paying attention much more than HP = .=

They are not proper fantasy but they have supernatural features in them and I personally loved every book of these two authors: Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Glenn Cooper

Can second the recommendation of Brandon Sandersons stormlight archive, it is very good so far. Or for a bit lighter reading you could try a couple of his short stories, they are all different, some brilliant, some not as good but all quite unique.

    Re: Fantasy recommendations

Blood Song is really good, far better than the Night Angel stuff which was pure pulp, suitable only for feeding the old log burning stove

which sounded like a good idea but now I need a new kindle....

    Re: Fantasy recommendations

Another vote here for David Gemmell. Such a great writer, and sadly no longer with us. Legend is one of the best books I've ever read, a real page turner.

It's already been mentioned, but The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams is a great novel, albeit rather lengthy. I read the second part of the trilogy too, but by the time the third part came out I'd totally lost the plot and I've never read it! Pretty gutted about that... No excuses from anyone else, now that all three are immediately available. ;-)

Blood Song is in dire need of an editor (and I mean dire need), but considering it was originally self published it's really very good. Sequel is out shortly too.

    Re: Fantasy recommendations

I've mentioned this on another thread, but the Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett is phenomenal. Really great reads with plenty of laugh out loud moments. I've also been reading the Game of Thrones book series. Hefty, but the story is so deep and complex with so many layers, I love it.
