Gritty urban film roundup (Bullet Boy & Way of Life)

Bullet Boy: about a black kid who's released from prison and his attempts not to fall back into his old way of life. Awful film, terrible acting, completely unrealistic. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know anything about Hackney. Here's an example, two guys want to kill another guy, so they go round his house in broad daylight, in the middle of the afternoon, in a busy suburban terraced area. One guy goes in (leaves the front door wide open) to try and shoot the guy and the other guy stands on the street outside keeping a 'look out'. Puuuuleeeeeez..... 0/5

Way of Life: if you enjoyed the recent film Crash (not the Cronenburg version), you'll like this film. It's about deprivation and racial misunderstanding in a deprived town in Wales. Excellent acting, gripping, tense, very good plot and culminates in a traumatic finale. All the characters are presented well as multi-level characters and not as stereotypes. 4/5

I heard Bulletboy was good, but newspaper review and now your review said otherwise, so I'm glad I never saw it. TBH Hackney is the absolute crappers, it's right next to my borough, and I only go there for Ice Skating.

Btw a bit off topic, but my two favourite movies this year by far are The Island and Unleashed
