    Eclipse Broadband in the Midlands

    Hi guys,

Anybody else in the Midlands (S-O-T, Newcastle areas) having problems with their broadband connection? My download speeds have gone from a stately 1.5 - 2M to a pathetic and lowly 170KBPS!

Whilst playing 2142 I realised that my latency was starting at 110 and then shooting upto 1000!!!

Been on to the tech support who are pretty cool and they've assured me it's BTs fault!! Although I have to say that on a tracert the speeds are fine until it hits my ISP.

Just wondering if anybody else has experienced similar drops in performance??

    Akira.

If you run some tests at http://speedtester.bt.com/ you will be able to see what your IP profile is - this is the speed your profiled at your local phone exchange. If your sync speed is much higher than this then try rebooting your router 3/4 times a day and you should see your speed go back up within 3 days if your sync speed is indeed low, or your connection is dropping all the time, then you would need to report this to Eclipse who can look into a possible fault

Yes, I've reported the fault to Eclipse who are in turn reporting a suspected line fault to BT. I was just wondering if it was just me or more folks in the area. If it's just me then it may be an issue my side. I'll try what you've advised just in case that helps at all.

    Thanks for your help guys,

    Akira.

They don't seem to be doing so badly tbh... and except for this glitch they've been fine.

Indeed. The throttling is just awful not to mention email problems for at least 6 months and switching people to LLU.

tbh, I didn't start this thread to slag off my isp, merely to find people in my area experiencing similar probs at the mo. If this is your bag perhaps start your own thread?

to date, eclipse have provided a good service to me but this issue would seem to lie with BT after further discussions with eclipse.
