Querys and problems with new BT Home Hub

Well, received the Bt Home Hub on Friday, with our new 8mb package of broadband. Were hoping to use the whole call thing and thats the only reason we got the Hub.

Went to setting it up and it worked with the PC through the ethernet, got it all set up and working, but the wireless for the laptop, terrible, didnt want to work at all! The phone works, although the line quality there seems to be alot of background interference when using it but well get used to that!

    My problem, more along the lines of a query, is that im wondering if this is possible;
To use the BT Home Hub for only the phone, nothing else! Have it plugged into the line and then the phone connected to it, and use my Belkin router for the pc and laptop broadband.
See, weve tryed this but whenever we do it, whatevers plugged in earlier on the line cabling, the hub or the router, seems to cancel the other out, they dont want to both work at the same time! No matter what set up of there filter thingys they hand out!
Just got the router set up now, for simplicitys sake, weve not even got the 8mb yet, their date of the 9th for activating changed to the 11th, being today so lets hope!

    Thanks

Needs new monitor / speakers / headphones / keyboard.
Before that i need money :s

Quite interested in this statement as A friend of mine had exactly the same problem and BT told them it was the Laptop - send it back to the retailer!!!

It does find the hub, occasionaly using the built in windows utilities to do so. But sitting rite next to the Hub it reports low signal strength, using the bt tools which i sadly installed from the disc (the ammount of crap they install with it!). It doesnt even find the wireless at all!

When i try to connect with the windows util, it reports errors etc about the wireless not being there anymore.

Its definetly not the laptop though!

I need to try find the Hub on my Wii later on and see how that goes.

The Home Hub is terrible in just about every respect. I binned mine after a few days of headaches, and after installing a few for other people would generally recommend that everyone else follow suit.

Of course this means paying for something to replace it, but i;s worth the money imo.

You can't have more than one ADSL device on a line.

As for the wireless problem, have you tried changing the wireless channel? Sometimes its a bit hit and miss to find a good channel with no interference. If this is the case, it's not really the router's fault since it just depends what channel they have it set on by default.

ive had no problems with my bt home hub.
cant you plug in the belkin router in to one of the ethernet ports on the back of the home hub?
and use it just as a access point?

As Stompy says, try changing the wireless channel. The Hub automatically sets the channel to avoid interference, but sometimes it gets it wrong.

IIRC people have had good results with the highest channel available.
