Hey All,

What sites do you all use to get those all important games/updates/clients (steam)/demos etc ??

I'll start us off.
I've been using Fileplanet (Basic subscription) for the past 2 years, and i've always found it to be ok, apart from when a new patch has just been released. Bfore that my fav was Fileleech, shame that it's not around anymore. Fileplanet also offer subscritions to special dedicated servers for quicker dl's tho.. yes, it COSTS. Are subscription site's really worth it?

If there is one drawback to FP, i'd say it's the large amont of adds/page reloads you have to wade through to get ya dl.
But i'd say thats a small price to pay for a free service

We don't talk about warez here, but I use Google for any stuff (demos/patches/updates, etc) that I'm after. Fileplanet is pointless IMHO. Why pay for something you can find elsewhere for free?

No warez? what about all the software firewall threads & AV progs threads.
Anyway i didn't mean to add in warez. Mainly more what sites you all use/like.

i usually try to get the name of the file i want to download from fileplanet, then goto filemirrors.com and paste the filename in, and usually find a few servers which i'm not going to have to queue for ages to download off

A friend of mine subscribes to Fileplanet, but probably won't renew his subscription. He let me use it for a while, but I really didn't see the point.

The World is a huge place, you can always find what you're after somewhere.

I mostly d/l game patches, and there's often not a better place to get them than from the Game creator's website.

So no, not for me.

What have those threads gotta do with warez?
We talk about either free AV/ firewall software or that we pay for it

There warez, they are software. The treads contain info/discussions & links for and about these downloadable Software, ie warez.

downloadable software isnt warez... ie if i were to download lets say winzip, if i were to download a pirated game or program etc thats warez..

3dgamers and fileshack for me gaming stuff.

rpmfind and linuxiso for my linux stuff.

All of the gaming patches that take you ages to get on Fileplanet, or even god forbid pay to get are available at ftp://ftp.ngi.it and then navigate the ftp a bit, it is a mirror of fileplanet and has everything they do, plus a bit and faster than http too.
Linux stuff I get from ftp.esat.net/public then whatever distro I want.
FTP is the way, forget pointy clicky.

I used to get all my mods/patches from blueyonder games ftp. Shame it shut down, really, as it was probably one of the best out there. The CS servers weren't too bad either.
