if you go through a router and you don't use their crappy software it all works perfectly and you get decent speeds.

there are guides on the internet as to how to configure the router for aol etc

    otherwise dont bother

I'll try and get it sorted tomorrow so i'll keep you guys posted.

I'm going for the 2mb line rather than the 8mb as i'm so far from the exchange I never get more than 3 anyway.

I think we have the 'silver package' can't remember what speed it is now, but it went from 256 to 512 to 1meg and I think we are paying £15 a month

Not bad, rarely notice any speed difference except when downloading compared to my 8meg namesco line at my student house.

To be honest so long as you avoid their software then thats alright, when you get the package put the CD to the side and ignore it. You should have a login name and password, and then just follow these settings here to put AOL on your router and use it as any normal ISP

In the same situation - about 1.5Mb here, so up to 8Mb..., well, my current 512 falls in to that category!

be careful about adopting AOl for your email. They keep messing around with it so you have to use their software and they won't forward it if you decide to switch to somebody else.
