Orange Unlimited

Hey All,

Moving house soon - no cable available there (am on old BY line now). Currently have a mobile phone contract with orange and was thinking bout paying 5 quid a month to get the orange unlimited 8mb supadoooopa connection.

However, just read lots of bad things about orange broadband and was wandering if anyone here ha any opinion.

New house will be close to colchester in essex.

they claim to be unlimited... but they really are not.

Yeah as said there is a '[un]fair usage policy' in place and I read somewhere there is a 2GB monthly allowance, over that you pay extra. They also make use of traffic shaping and their 8mb quota is 'up to' so depends on your distance from the nearest exchange as to your actual speed capabilities.

So really depends on your usage as to whether it would be worthwhile.

Basically I think you get what you pay for. I'd never use chese very cheap / free broadband packages, as I rely on a fast working connection.

ive had orange since the freeserve days (because dad wouldnt change really) and i havent been sporked with any FUP yet.... i download loads and loads of stuff they still havent done anything regarding my download useage.

though... they occasionaly have no internet access and it is a bit annoying really, happened this week and then on another day pages wouldnt load (but still could play games :S) i think there fine tbh, until they ring us up saying you keep going over the limit
