SIP Trunks?

Anyone had experience of this new technology, a future replacement for ISDN30's, just done a project based on this and wondered how many other hexites know what it is or have this as the telephone lines to their company etc?

Jay, Just a word of warning that i'd seriously watch who you get the sip trunks from....

The experience i've had with what is down at the leader of sip trunks at the moment was disasterous.

So what are SIP trunks ?

I found something which makes me think they are some kind of fancy VoIP stuff.

They are big VOIP things, think 30* telephone call +

Getting into enterprise level stuff where you communicate with a central system that has a link to the PSTN and you pay for an internet connection to this "big switch in the sky" for a fraction of the cost of BT. (about 1/4)

Very infant technology at the moment as proved when i set one up thursday- today. Nightmare tho!.

I don't know it off hand, the only reason i got involved was someone sold them because they were taken in by the sales pitch from the supplier. And i had to resolve the issues because no-one else in the company had the faintest idea how to.
