Ok, so Im with Orange for my broadband (its only £5 so i cant really complain), however since moving house iv been having two issues with my broadband...
Firstly Orange swear blind that Im getting 4mb bb, however according to my router (netgear dg834n) im only actually getting 2.3mb.....spead was around 2.9mb for a couple of weeks after I moved in, then plumetted...... wheres this extra mythical speed being lost? and is there any app i can run to find detailed specs on my line quality etc?
Atm im running the netgear supplied microfilter to the dg834n via a short run (about 30cm) of high quality cable, then from the router to my main rig via 10m of cat5 cable....
Second issue is that everytime a telephone call is answered my broadband connection is disconnected (but reconnects whilst the call is still going), and when the call ends the bb dies again and reconnects....
*edit* Forgot to add that the telephone is connected downstairs WITHOUT a microfilter to the main telephone socket, and the router is upstairs on a preinstalled extensions socket.... does the main phone just need a splitter?
any ideas folks?
