Unable to Access Internet except when using Firefox

Hi All

I'm trying to solve a problem with my computer. I've just installed a PCI wireless network card (an old one) Now, its all working and installed properly... I can access the internet, but without exception only Firefox is responding. When trying with MSN messenger, it responds with Key Ports error telling me to check proxy and firewall settings... there is no firewall or proxy setup... only standard basic windows sutff...

I'm on Windows XP Home and the PCI card is a Belkin

Any ideas whats causing my problem?

Windows XP has a built in firewall afaik, Windows Defender i think its called but i uninstalled mine and cant remeber how you disable it

this could be an MTU error. Read up on it.

Belkins are notorious for MTU errors. Try changing it down to 1400

I had a problem where only skype would connect to the internet ... I then found that I had missed off inputting a gateway!
