Changing BT Homehub for a different router

I've got an old router (can't remember which model but it was fairly decent) knocking around which I used before I changed to BT.

Does anyone know if I'd have any problems if I exchanged it for my Homehub? Particularly with respect to the BT Vision box/service, which was the main reason I switched to BT.

I think the T's and C's say you may need to keep it. Changing the router will be no problem, loads of people removethe BT Home Hub becuaseofits uPNP problems but I have no idea about the BT Vision. What happens to BT Vision when you turn the home hub off?

Re: Changing BT Homehub for a different router

Good question, I don't know! If I disconnect the router I think I would lose the EPG and the ability to get movies on demand, I'm not sure whether they would both work with a different router or whether they're hard coded (some how) to only work with the Homehub.

Yeah, looks like it. I guess the only way to be sure is to try it!

I agree. Just give it a go. If it doesn't work then stick the homehub back on.

Well t'internet works and I still have an EPG (after a laborious reset) so I'd say it's a success.
