    Network speed problem + wireless

    Strange problem...

Two computers using vista, the other using 2k. Also a NAS hard disk.

Network speed seems limited to 1-2MB/second, even just from my computer directly connected to the NAS hard disk.. thats about the same as our internet connection...! something is wrong.

I have tested it between my pc and 2 others, both over the wireless 54mbit and the 100mbit lan... so its not just the NAS box.

Also a bit pissed off that the dual gigabit ports on my computer dont have proper vista drivers.. so only 100mbit not that the wireless router I just bought has gigabit either.. we chose a different one for other resons and forgot to check that.

This is a known Vista issue, there is ton's of info on it around the web. I've no idea if there is one single solution which fixes it though.

    Have you installed SP1 yet?

Are you having the same speed issues when transferring between the 2k box and the NAS device?

Re: Network speed problem + wireless

Two of the vista pc's have sp1, but mine doesnt.. all three have the problem.

Not sure about 2k or the nas.
Ill try updating network drivers... as said above they are supposed to be dual gigabit but somehow only 100mbit shows up in the config..

Annoyingly DFi doesnt have any vista ethernet drivers on the site and the nvidia ones are dated almost a year ago, but the other controller on the motherboard is a marvell one and they have very recent updated drivers.. and now I have gigabit back

    Didnt help though

Also found a second marvell driver with some nice extras including teaming two ports together.. crappy nvidia drivers dont work with it though...

Re: Network speed problem + wireless

vista SP1 is on and with the new driver I now get upto 6mB/s which is nice still half of the theoretical 100mbit speed though..
