    wireless speed issue

I have a linksys wrt54gl with the dd-wrt firmware, output power at 90dB.

I have tried connecting to it with multiple wireless cards - and it connects perfectly at 54mbit - therefore should the transfer rate to a LAN device be around 5MB/s. However its not, the max I get is 2.4MB/s - this is fast wirelessly as it is also stable and can transfer like that constantly.

Problem is, when I transfer between 2 wireless computers speed between them is obviously 1.2MB/s.

How can I increase the speed? it is only 2.4MB/s however far I am from the router (realistically ofc).

    thanks

    Re: wireless speed issue

With wireless security on there will be some overheard but I dont think you`d see that much of a decline....

Distance can affect it but you say the speeds are constant.

I have never really tried clockinh my wifi connection but i`m sure its faster than that.

i used a program called DUMeter. i have no doubts that it's accurate as i have tested LAN transfers and got the full wack (10-11MB/s).
