Workgroup not viewable but type \\workstation name and it works?

My network is pissing me about at the moment as i right click network places icon and then click explore.

>Microsoft windows network> workgroup> then it does nothing for about 30seconds and then pops up that workgrope is not Available????
But if i go to Run and type it in e.g. \\workstation name enter it shows the shared files.


All firewalls off and all PCs can see each other when pinging. Also remote connection is working on all PCs. Also have static IPs for all the Pcs in the house setup on the router and in windows.

Yes they can see each other when you type them in Run \\PC name then you can see all file shared on it. Its just a pain as it use to be really easy just to explore network places and the expand the workgroup to see all of the attached PC/LTs on the network, now i have to type them all in one at a time when i need to access files.

Followed the link and what it said to do but im lost at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netbt\Parameters\

as i can navigate to that path but do not have an option for "EnableProxy value" ???
