    Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

I have Vista Ultimate 64Bit installed on my PC

And The Netgear WG111T USB Wireless Dongle, installed and works fine however when my PC goes into sleep mode which i use alot because i dont turn PC off, it wakes up and the Netgear dongle is no longer detected, i have to take it out and put it back in again for it to work again

Very annoying, is there any simple solution to this or should i just get an Internal adapter?

    Thanks

    Mark

P.S I have the latest drivers

Almost certain to be a driver issue mate - are they fully up to date?

edit - get them from http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WG111T.asp

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

I wasn't aware Netgear released 64 bit Vista drivers? I had a hell of a time getting my WPN311 working under Ultimate 64. In the end i managed to get Generic Atheros drivers and they work great.

Not sure what chipset your usb adapter uses but would be worth finding out to broaden your options.

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

It's probably not the answer you want to hear but I had no end of problems with a WG111T and my 32-bit Vista Home Premium machine. Losing the wireless when going into sleep and also just randomly. Unfortunately I never fixed it and eventually went to a wired connection.

I actually hate wireless on Vista.

It runs really fast at the mo but every now and then it just KILLS the connection.

Netgear plain wouldn't work and this is happening on a £30 Dlink.

Personally I'd rather have wired back.

    Both.

I'm on my 3rd wireless adapter for this new machine (a PCI Netgear my dad bought me) but after a few days has started developing those lovely dropped connections, and randomly changing signal strengths after the computer has been on for a while.

Yeah, same dilemmas here with the WG111T - decides to drop out randomly and generally misbehave. Really tempted to go for a PCI solution and hope it proves more stable!

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

Im still having the same problems, tried various drivers,

Will probably end up getting a different make PCI solution, before i got this new motherboard i had the Asus one with onboard wireless and it never gave me 1 problem like this.

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

Last weekend tried to connect with one of these on vista 32bit, nghtmare - longest it would stay connected was 8min then would auto disconnect average was 5mins even with the latest drivers plus extension cable to try and get a better signal in the end I went and connected a linksys 54 usb adaptor with a vista driver update from the usa site works perfect infact getting a stronger signal oon the netgear router than the orginal linksys system so it appears its better to mix and match.

One thing I would mention about the netgear adaptor it took longer to install than the linksys even with a flashdrive.

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

    Hey,

Going to bump this thread as its one of the top results in google

I have modified and uploaded a driver for the Netgear WG111T that will work on

    Windows 7 x64
    Windows Vista x64
    Windows 7 x86 (32 bit)
    Windows Vista x86 (32 bit)

It is based off modified Siemens drivers for a device with the same chipset

    Have fun

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

Are Netgear actually supporting 64 bit drivers now?
I can only see a statement on their website dated Oct 2006....that they would've 'cos it would be too expensive

Re: Netgear WG111T Driving Me Mad

I ended up getting rid of this dongle in the end and replaced with a Edimax one which although did not have the same range (get 1 less bars in signal) it works fine out of sleep mode

    Thanks
