Today, I signed a contract in pcworld with vodafone 20 pounds per month, 24 month. I get the advent 4211 netbook (which is said to be the same as MSI wind). It is a good light weight netbook with windows xp home edition, only cons to me is that the battery life is not as long as ASUS eee 901 with ssd.
If any one wishes to sign similar contract to get the 279 pounds worth network with 1G monthly allowance mobile brandband, my experience is that it takes sometime for pcworld get the deal through. The contract does displayed on the computer screen, but the guy can not let it work! I tried two different stores, and one has system communication issue between pcworld system and vodafone system. The second store has to find some trick to get the order through the system! It spent me about 2 hours in the two stores to get the actual netbook home.
I have done some experiment on the sim cards, the result here is: The one come with mobile broadband could be used in mobile phone, get signals, but could only be used to surf (using mobile) the internet, not able to make calls. Will do extra experiment and post my findings here.
I am still testing the netbook, and wish to answer any questions related to the netbook itself. I would like to ask that:
1. is it possible to use the "USB Modem Stick Lite" with other sim card (say t-mobile or other vodafone mobile sim card)?
2. if I put the sim card for mobile internet into an mobile phone, can i use it to use internet?(yes) or will there be extra charge?(wait for bill statement) what about use it as a normal mobile sim?(not possible)
Thank you for reading.
