    BE - Great Deal Atm

    BE Pro or unlimited

Through Quidco, if done during September.
    Free connection (usually £24)
    £40 cash back

(before an admin slams me that this is in the wrong section, someone in a questionable state of mind decided that it was in their best interests that i cannot see the 'Bargains section' or the 'Wanted' section for that matter)

Re: BE - Great Deal Atm

Honestly, even at full price, BE is a great deal. As an avid internet user, gamer, and very heavy newsgroup downloader, BE have been absolutely spectacular. Customer service, performance and price is simply a breath of fresh air in these tired days of BT-all-in-one packages and Virgin-sly-bandwidth-capping.

Re: BE - Great Deal Atm

Would people recommend Be Pro from a business point of view? I'm part of an online advertising company, and every facet of our organisation hinges on us having internet access.

I used to use Be Unlimited at my student house last year in York, and had a few times where the internet would die for half a day or so.

Conversely, we've been using BT Business Broadband at work for the last 2 years. With the exception of one spectacular mess orchestrated by BT, where we told them we were moving offices in 2 weeks, and they subsequently transferred our broadband account in just 1 week, prompting us to move VERY quickly, we haven't really had any issues.

I shall be buying a server to run Small Business Server 2008 on by the year-end and running Exchange on this, so I'm looking at anything that can give us a boost to remote file-access and e-mail sending. BT's currently giving us about 5Mb down and 300Kb up, so I'm thinking I can at least triple that by migrating to Be.

However, anything that is less that 99.9999999% reliable isn't worth looking at, for the reasons mentioned above.

Re: BE - Great Deal Atm

I moved to Be* (just the plain Unlimited, not Pro) from Zen a couple of years ago, and although I'm very pleased with them and they provide enormous bang for the buck, they haven't been 100% (or even 99.9999%) reliable - there have been occasional unplanned outages lasting several hours (although none over the last few months, admittedly), and weird routing issues seem to pop up every now and again. It's no big deal for home usage, and I'd still happily recommend them on that basis, but I'd hesitate to do so for business purposes.

Zen on the other hand were completely, utterly reliable throughout the four years I was with them. On the odd occasions I did have issues (either my fault or BT's, not Zen's), they helped me resolve the problems quickly, efficiently and courteously. Absolutely brilliant, and if they had an unbundled/ADSL2+ offering I'd still be with them today.

Thanks for your feedback Cptn. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has had the odd problem with Be. It may be that I just have to stick with BT for the time being then...it's a shame, because I'd like to trust Be, but until I can almost guarantee minimal downtime, it's slow down and uploads for us!

A horrid little place called wrexham, just down the road from chester. I'm a couple of miles outside it, so I'll probably be one of the last areas to get it
