    ClarkConnect Apache Server/Dabsvalue DSL Router Problem

    Hopefully one of you networking buffs will be able to easily help me out here. I'd originally ran a webserver on a Windows based router/firewall/webserver box, with a pci dsl card installed. Having only used linux for a HTPC and as an alternative to Windows (text editors, etc), I decided to go full whack and use it as my webserver. After reading a couple of positive comments on clarkconnect, here on Hexus, I decided to give it a go as soon as I got my new DSL modem/router.

    Anyhow, I've installed ClarkConnect(2.1) in Standalone Mode, and the Web Server software is working 100% fine so far. I can view a webpage from any of the other computers on my network.

    However! The problem I'm having is setting things up so I can view the web server content from the internet. Whenever I try to access the domain name (www.iamtheking.net) externally, or when I type in http:// followed by the ip address, I get presented with my Routers login prompt for it's browser-based setup (10.0.0.2 is the ip of the router).

    This is the modem/router I'm using:

    http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=17P7

    Aka the PTI PAE-CE81

    I think I guess that the setting I needed to change on the router was the virtual server setting? I tried pointing ports 80 and 81 to 10.0.0.3 (the webserver ip). This, however, didn't do anything.

    Any help would be lovely, I can provide screenshots of the menus if they're required.

    Thanks
    Theo

    You need to turn off the routers WAN side http server if you can. This might still mean that the domain name won't work for you on the LAN side, but that isn't a big deal.

    Basically if the WAN side has the http server listening on port 80, it is probably ignoring the port forwarding setting you have specified.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
