    Belkin wireless G router problem

I am currently with talktalk broadband, and they send you a free wired modem. That works, no problem.
Tried to setup the router to connect to the internet, and connects, however according to the msn diagnostic tool, there is an error with a DNS conflict. Reconnected the wired modem, bingo, it works.

I spoke to someone from the "high level technical support team" (still some indian in a call centre) and went through dns flushing etc, but unto no avail. Even manually setup the dns addresses, still failed to work.
(currently using the wired modem connected to the wireless router)

Another thing ive noticed, is it cuts me off at rather irritating moments (wireless disconnects)

Is there any reason for these things that I've missed?? (eg belkin routers are **insert expletives here**)

Should have said, Also checked the belkin stats on the firmware, and that also pointed to a dns addressing conflict

Lightbulb Re: Belkin wireless G router problem

    Hi Strike-down

I also experienced this problem with an identical router a few years ago....and can sympathise with your frustrations.

Firstly, your "top level Tecchie" is merely reading from a pre-determined troubleshooting guide....not much help.

What you need to look at is the model number of your wireless router (or version number)..this is printed on the underside of the router. Check for correct Drivers installed (update Firmware) at Belkin Group's own site (http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&aid=5947 .

Select your version number and follow instructions by clicking on link.

Another thing for you to try....

start up wireless router and log into it by typing 192.168.2.1 in your address bar
ignore "password (leave blank) and click continue

check to see if you IP address is chosen as "static" or "dynamic".....if you are broadband it should be set to "dynamic"

Failing that, you can do one of two options (or both)...

    1. Take router back to where you got it and ask for replacement.....or...

    2. Contact Belkin direct (thus is what I did) and they will 99/100 send you a replacement router with the same features as the one you have purchased or a "newer updated firmware" version.

In the meantime, all I can suggest is you either use only "hard-wired" internet access or persevere with switching on & off until you receive your replacement.

    Good Luck

Re: Belkin wireless G router problem

I would take it back if I could, but bought it second hand.
It also doesnt seem to be on the belkin website Its the high speed mode wireless G router with adsl2+ modem. Any other places I can get an updated firmware for it (if there is one)??

    Thanks in advance

Yeah that is my intention now. What did you replace it with? Need a router for around £50 maximum
